Internationally known and Regional Native Artists made their prescence on the legendary Solano Stroll in the East Bay City of Albany, CA this Sunday, September 13.
A record crowd of some 10,000 people came out to attend the arts and culture stroll.

The first must see Native art booth was DOG CLAN ART COMPANY.

Native artist and muralist Duck Redstone had an amazing array of paintings, murals and beading.

He and his wife, Rose were just so awesome and the many wonderful Native Arts and Culture pieces they had were the true spirit of Indian Country.

The next stop was to the legendary Native gallery GATHERING TRIBES.

Native owner Pennie Opal's gallery is a must see Native arts and Culture stop when in San Francisco Bay Area Indian Country.

All life is a ceremony. Every act is a ceremony creating a result in our lives. Every ceremony we do always brings results to our lives. If we do bad medicine to others, we do bad medicine to ourselves.

Any time we treat anything with disrespect whether it is another human being or a plant or an animal, we are performing bad ceremonies.

The Creator can only create through human beings. Each human being has a purpose given to us by the Creator.

We are on this earth to fulfill this purpose. Our only work is to make ourselves ready, to become a channel, to perform for the Creator.

We prepare ourselves by prayer. We prepare ourselves by becoming unselfish. We prepare ourselves by seeking and choosing to walk on a spiritual path.

Each morning we look to the east and we say an honor prayer to the Creator. We offer our gifts: tobacco and CORN.

We ask him to help us do His will for today. In this simple way, we still fulfill our purpose. It should be an honor to serve the Creator.

The Creator designed us to act on faith. We are able to do this by holding firm to our beliefs.

If we believe something and if we don't want the belief to change, we need to add the power of the Great Spirit to this belief. We must always have the spiritual added to our beliefs.

If we don't add the Spirit, then we may very well change our minds the first time we are tested. Each time we are tested and we don't change our minds, we get stronger.

The wind may blow on the red willow trees bending them and causing the roots to grow deeper. The more the wind bends the tree, the bigger, stronger, and deeper the roots grow.

We should be happy that we are tested. It's the Creator's way of making us have greater faith for greater results.

WE MUST BE THE SPIRITUAL CHANGE WE WISH TO SEE IN CREATOR'S WORLD!

A Native man should always be clean and sober, for he knows there is still more work to do !

Rise with the Sun to pray. Pray alone and pray often. The Great Creator will listen, if you only speak.


From all generations of the past, here now in the present and the unborn generations of the future, the Creator from Sacred Time, Creation Time, First Man and First Woman Time, made all Native People a Holy People.



It is important that we as Native People maintain good self-esteem, self-worth and self-value.
We cannot attack ourselves, beat ourselves up and pound ourselves for crimes we have never committed.

Our Prayer to the Creator represents a different kind a power, a different kind of strength, a different kind of energy.

Stand up with pride when you pray to Creator. Stand with Honor before Creator. Be Proud to be Spiritually alive on the Earth Mother, and thankful and honored to stand before Creator, rather than bowing down like a slave.



All prophecy can be changed. There are things that may happen under the present conditions of our world, but these conditions do not have to stay the way they are, or deteriorate to a more desperate situation.

Native People offer a spiritual solution to the world's problems.
Many people are interested in the message of Native Spirituality because they are aware of the despairing circumstances of our world and the fact that we must all make changes in order to survive globally.



We offer people hope for a peaceful world by sharing our Spiritual paths with them. We are not selling our ceremonies, or our traditions; we are sharing wisdom.

With Creator's World Renewal Medicine cycle soon approaching, it is predicted that all First Nation People shall return to our traditional Native ways. Native people will spiritually transform North America back into harmony and balance.

Native and non Native People who walk in the Spiritual ways of the Ancestors will be in control of the Americas.

Native people see the Sun as our Father. The highest of the Earth Mother's energies are in the morning when Father Sun is rising in the East.

Native people know that morning is the best time to pray for as Father Sun rises, we can place all problems and issues into the past. Native people give spiritual thanks daily for the energy and power of Father Sun.



The purest Spiritual medicine in the World of humankind is of course, the Great Creator of All Things, and the blessing of Father Sun when it rises each morning in the East.


When we as Native people pray, it permits us to have the Creator's Blessings of healing and understanding, in turn creates peace and love, and brings the full effect of Creator's harmony and balance to the Earth Mother.

NATIVE AMERICAN CONFERENCE 'IS ABOUT THE TOGETHERNESS OF NATIVE WOMEN

Native American conference 'is about the togetherness of women'

Learning how to heal physically, emotionally and spiritually was the goal of the third annual women's wellness conference at The Oaks on the Soboba Indian reservation.

About 125 women registered for the retreat, which started Friday and focused mostly on the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. It was a collaborative effort between The Luiseño Native Women of Soboba, Riverside and San Bernardino County Indian Health Inc., and the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians Tribal TANF (Temporary Aid for Needy Families).

Speakers touched on topics that emphasized the importance of healthy relationships.

Rose Parker-Sterling talked about how she received clemency in 2000 from then-Gov. Gray Davis. She was incarcerated for 15 years for killing an abusive boyfriend in what she said was a case of self-defense.

Other speakers, Manuel and Vivian Hamilton, from the Anza reservation, have been married 32 years and shared their healing journey of sobriety.

Jacqueline Agtuca, a North Carolina Eastern Band Cherokee, is an attorney who spoke about laws that have been passed to protect Native American women and children against violence. She also gave out copies of "Sharing Our Stories of Survival: Native Women Surviving Violence," to which she contributed.

According to the National Congress of American Indians' Web site, www.ncai.org, the rate of violence is much higher -- almost double -- for Native women than it is within the general population.

"And we are the least protected by laws," said Wendy Schlater, who works with the Tribal TANF. She is a La Jolla tribal member, one of Soboba's six sister tribes.

"The presenters addressed the mind, body and spirit, and now the women can practice their rights," said Schlater.

"We started a domino effect," said Carmelita Vallejo, who founded The Luiseño Native Women of Soboba about four years ago with Virginia Duenaz and Lorina Duro. The group, whose motto is "All Women Are Sacred," now has about a dozen members.

"It's a grass-roots movement within the tribal infrastructure for women to address issues with the support of the tribal council," said Schlater.

Cheryl Bear, an evangelist and singer from Canada, offered an emotional after-dinner program of prayer and inspirational songs. It was a culmination of Saturday's full day of speakers and activities.

"It was a wonderful experience -- I felt as if the Holy Spirit was here," said Eva Alford, of San Jacinto. "This is about the togetherness of women. We all have the same hurts and pains as sisters, wives and mothers."

"This is my third time here. I wouldn't miss it for anything," said Oneida Barrera, of San Jacinto. "You come here thinking you have such a burden and it's nothing compared to what some of these (other) people are facing."

Representatives of the Indian health organization offered screenings and information about diabetes, high blood pressure and healthy eating. Printouts urged at-risk women to follow up with their physicians based on the findings.

"These are very common sicknesses with Native Americans," said Angela Ramos, of the Yokut-Tejon Indian Tribe, who also works with the Tribal TANF.

Sylvia Morton, of Riverside, said she finds the conferences to be inspirational, uplifting, beneficial and renewing. Attending for the third time, she said she has not found any other outreach resources for the Native community.

Schlater said the most popular comment she heard as the women packed up to leave Sunday morning was: "Thank you -- we needed this."

There were many injustices done to Native people.

Sometimes I wonder; why am I connected to the past injustices done to Indian people?

Why am I so angry about the past? The Elders say our ancestors are alive within each of us.

Therefore, I may experience anger and resentment inside of me because of the injustice done to them.

The way I get rid of these past feelings is to forgive. It may be necessary to even learn to forgive the unforgivable.
